Prerequisites
Become a Licensed Soccer Referee in Maryland Today!
To take the first time soccer referee class in Maryland, you need to be at least 13 years old. Before attending the class, you must complete the following:
- Register with U.S. Soccer – You’ll need to sign up with the U.S. Soccer Federation.
- Complete Online Training – This includes modules on the Laws of the Game and SafeSport training.
- Pass the Online Exam – You must successfully pass the U.S. Soccer Federation’s online exam.
After these steps, you can then attend the in-person clinic for practical training. More details can be found on the maryland soccer referees website.

- You may be asked to select your role (coach, referee, administrator, etc.).
